Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi talked about how "affinity" is related to coming to the Buddha Land for cultivation:
There are a certain affinity and reasons for the appearance of Guang Huan Mi Zong and the arrival of Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi with his disciples. Why? We have built the connection of this affinity ages ago. This affinity is not that relation. Those who have come here are connected to the affinity; those who have not come have to wait to be connected.
Anyone who were related in previous lives can meet again in this life. The point in time and the length of the meeting depend on your own time, but not the time in the Space Realm. How old are you when you come here? The children come here when they are nine or thirteen; they are young and come here early. It is a little bit late for those who come here at their 60s or 70s. Even it's late, it's better than not coming here. For those who never come here, the affinity cannot be connected in this life, and it will be harder in the next life. Then their cultivation in the past will be wasted.
A person living through the ancient time until now has certainly done some cultivation. Don't regard yourself as have never done cultivation before. Only you have forgotten it. How can you survive in this primitive world without cultivation? You can't, not at all. Although the methods of cultivation might be different; you have survived through various ways of cultivation. The levels of humans' wisdom are varied also, developed or underdeveloped. How to increase your wisdom to a certain level? You need to work hard on this.
