Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi compassionately expounds to his disciples Amitabha Buddha's power of vows:
The Western World of Bliss was created by Amitabha Buddha, the Buddha of the West. Before its creation, and before attaining Buddhahood, He made great vows. These 48 Great Vows made Amitabha Buddha renowned throughout the world for His compassion.
Each of His vows is deeply connected to sentient beings. People revere and give thanks to Him for these vows. Because of their existence, goodness continues to flourish in the world.
The 48 Great Vows of the Western Buddha are also embraced by Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi of Guang Huan Mi Zong.
Amitabha Buddha, the Buddha of Immeasurable Life, is infinite, boundless, and timeless. His life is everlasting, and He is ceaselessly delivering sentient beings in this Saha world. His 48 Great Vows exist to guide beings toward enlightenment and achievement.
These vows are not difficult to grasp; rather, they are easy to understand. Why? Because they embody the principle of upāya, i.e. convenience, which is the ultimate way, the uttara, the highest Dharma.
His greatness lies in convenience, making the Dharma accessible, visible, and understandable—so that beings may grasp the power of His vows.
The cycle of samsara is embraced by the compassion of the 48 Great Vows. To deliver beings from suffering and lead them to attain achievement is not only the vow of Shakyamuni Buddha, but also the vow of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. All vows originate from Him, and thus bear great significance.
Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi has spread the Dharma across the world, beginning in his birthplace in Mainland China, reaching 29 provinces and autonomous regions. His mission is to heal the sick and enlighten all beings.
Through his actions, Holy Master fulfills his mission, embodying the compassion of Amitabha Buddha and Shakyamuni Buddha, offering almsgiving and blessings to all.
