Holy Master instructed the preachers who spread the Dharma:
Your heart can be illumined through listening to the Dharma and contemplating the Way. Without listening to the Dharma, your direction and your clarity of thought will be uncertain. Therefore, listening to the Dharma is the very beginning of wisdom, especially in this Dharma Vanishing Era.
Shakyamuni Buddha made a prophecy in the Dharma Flourishing Era in the Dharma Vanishing Era, within the world of Five Defilements, the Buddha's teachings would gradually fade away. At that time, demons and evil spirits would rampage throughout the world, spreading their demonic paths and evil ways. The number of wicked people would be vast, as countless as the sands of the Ganges or the sands of the sea. By contrast, those with unshakable bodhi minds, true wisdom, and the resolve to spread Buddhism would be very few. In the Śūraṅgama Sūtra, Shakyamuni Buddha pointed out such problems: some monks would wear the robes of the Sangha while acting against the Buddha's teachings. This is truly lamentable.
Demons and evil spirits commit deeds that destroy Buddhism and disturb world peace. Their retribution is to fall into the Avici Hell. We should use such examples to educate people, and especially those who commit crimes, defame the Buddhas, or disguise themselves in monk's robes while violating Buddhist principles. These people neither understand karmic cause and effect nor know how to let go.
In this Dharma Vanishing Era, as the Buddha said, the extinction of the Dharma could happen in a blink of an eye, and eventually it is beyond the control of human will. How, then, can we prevent this? In the world of Five Defilements, manifestations of the "Cosmic Light" will appear in different places, signifying that the Dharma has changed. At this time, another Buddha—Moba Buddha—has appeared in the world. Whether this world can be transformed depends on the circumstances…
